Ekiti Assembly Commends Agbeyewa Farms’ Agricultural Revolution

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has praised Agbeyewa Farms Ltd for its large-scale cassava project, describing it as a visionary initiative that will help eradicate hunger in Ekiti and Nigeria.

The commendation was made by the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Stephen Aribasoye, who led a delegation to inspect the 5,000-hectare farmland in Ipao-Ekiti. He stated that the project, which is the largest private agro-allied investment in the state, is a revolution that will drive development and create jobs.

The Managing Director of Agbeyewa Farms, Mr. Seyi Aiyeleso, highlighted the farm's impressive growth and achievements. The cassava farm has expanded from 102 hectares in 2022 to over 2,000 hectares, with a goal of reaching 100,000 hectares by 2032.

Mr. Aiyeleso noted that the farm's use of mechanization has led to a remarkable yield, producing 25 tons per hectare last year, which is significantly higher than the national average of 6-8 tons. He said, "Today, Agbeyewa Farm records the highest yield per hectare in Nigeria."

The farm is not only focused on production but also on community engagement. Mr. Aiyeleso explained that the farm has an "Ingrown Scheme Programme" that gives plots of land to community members and buys their products at premium prices.

Additionally, the company's Director of Community Engagement, Mr. Dauda Lawal, mentioned that collaboration with security agencies has transformed the once-notorious community into one of the most peaceful in the state.

This project provides a powerful example of how private investment can drive significant agricultural and socio-economic transformation. Agbeyewa Farms' success demonstrates that with a combination of modern technology, strategic planning, and a strong partnership with the government, it is possible to achieve remarkably high yields and address food security challenges in Nigeria.

The farm’s commitment to job creation and community empowerment also shows that large-scale agricultural enterprises can be a force for positive social change, proving that profit and shared prosperity can go hand in hand.
